Job Description Job Description Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for our 1st shift, which runs from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with some flexibility, and we are open to considering candidates for the 2nd shift if needed. The primary responsibility involves mill machining of metal parts produced through 3D printing, specifically for military/defense and energy contracts, including gun suppressors, missiles, and explosives. The focus of the role is on machining rather than operating, with a goal to minimize downtime and maintain production quality and efficiency using our 32 Haas units and 3 Mazaks. Responsibilities Perform machine setups and hands-on machining of metal parts. Load tools, fixtures, and materials into the machines. Ensure minimal downtime and maintain production quality and efficiency. Focus primarily on machining rather than operating the machines. Essential Skills 3-5 years of milling machining experience preferred, but candidates with lathe machining experience may be considered. Proficiency with tools such as micrometers, gauges, calipers, and others used for working with small metal parts. Ability to read blueprints and drawings; experience with CAD/CAM files is a bonus. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in lathe machining for 1-2 years is a bonus. High communication skills, strong attendance record, coachability, and a willingness to grow in skillset. Work Environment Work in a clean, well-maintained, and aesthetically pleasing 60,000 square foot facility, featuring 35 units with plans to add three more. Collaborate with a team of 5-7 machinists on shift, along with a supervisor and EDM machinist. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Freeville, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
