Location: Utica, NY Category: Administrative Posted On: Mon Sep 13 2021 Job Description: On Call Librarians will be available to work scheduled shifts (evenings up to 10 or 11pm, and/or weekends), and to fill in on short notice when possible.1. Building Related Duties:Open and/or close the library buildingEnforce policies, including COVID-19 related campus and New York State mandatesReport building maintenance needs2. Circulation Related Duties:Support the work of Student Library AssistantsStaff circulation desk as neededAssist individuals with directional questions and provide general customer serviceUse Library Management System to check items in and out, locate materials, and do basic searchingProcess reserve and interlibrary loan itemsRefer non-library questions to the appropriate IT Help Desk, Learning Center, Distance Learning, or Mario Caf personnelManage study room reservations3. Reference Related Duties:Assist patrons with basic reference questions in person, by telephone and email, and via digital chatRefer complex reference questions to appropriate colleaguesProject work including reviewing documents, online research guides, link checking, outreach and assessment4. Other reasonable duties as assigned Job Requirements:Bachelor's degree from college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.Outstanding communication skills appropriate to a post-secondary education environmentExtraordinary commitment to public serviceApplicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.
