Description We are seeking an experienced Anatomic Pathologist for a 3–6 month locum tenens assignment at a large, regional hospital-based pathology laboratory in Syracuse, NY. This role focuses on general anatomic pathology services including surgical pathology, cytology (including GYN), and frozen section analysis. The ideal candidate will be comfortable independently grossing specimens and performing frozen sections in a collaborative multi-pathologist environment. About the Facility This is a regional acute care hospital with approximately 450 licensed beds, serving central New York and surrounding communities. The institution is consistently recognized as a Best Regional Hospital by independent rankings and provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency care and intensive care units. Compensation Hourly Rate: $240 Travel expenses reimbursed, including: Mileage at IRS standard rate Rental car Hotel Flight Malpractice coverage provided Job Responsibilities Perform general anatomic pathology including surgical cases and cytology Independently gross specimens Perform and interpret frozen sections Ensure accurate and timely documentation and reporting in the laboratory information system Collaborate with other pathologists on complex cases Qualifications Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology - REQUIRED Active New York State medical license - REQUIRED Experience and proficiency in GYN cytology, including ThinPrep preparation - REQUIRED A Self-Query NPDB report pulled within the same month as Application - REQUIRED Strong skills in surgical pathology and frozen section procedures Working Hours ? Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM No call and no weekend requirements Skills Expertise in surgical pathology and cytology Competence in specimen grossing and frozen section performance Solid communication skills and ability to work in a team setting Experience with EPIC/Beaker or similar pathology documentation systems Attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care
