in labor/delivery or high-risk OB License: Current Registered Nurse
License Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: NRP
certification, FM certification, ACLS, BLS Description: The
Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and
abilities. Prevention of illness and injury and alleviating
suffering are key responsibilities. The RN is accountable for
compliance with all standards of practice and professional
development. Responsibilities include assessing, planning,
delegating, coordinating, and implementing nursing care. The RN
serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse based on unit
assignment. Patient and family education in health promotion and
disease management is essential. A working knowledge of
pharmacology is required to safely administer medications. The RN
shares responsibility for productivity and resource utilization
including staffing and supplies. Compliance with all nursing
practice standards and regulatory requirements is mandatory. Active
participation in improvement initiatives and peer review practices
is expected. Engagement in professional development and completion
of mandatory education is required. Integration of nursing research
and current evidence into practice is essential. Providing a
supportive learning environment for new employees and students is
required. Responsibilities may include duties related to Charge
Nurse or Shift Coordinator when assigned. Participation in the
Clinical Ladder Program is encouraged as knowledge and expertise
develop. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
