Job Description Certification Details - BLS Certification from AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross Job Details - Under general direction, observes and practices sterile technique, maintains asepsis, anticipates and assists the surgeon as needed. - Actively participates in patient care and safety. - Utilizes OR supplies conservatively and operates as a team member of the OR staff. - Follows Infection Control policies and procedures and demonstrates expertise in surgical scrub technique. - Adheres to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively. - Assists the surgeon when needed gowning, gloving, draping, and passing of instruments and other related items during the procedure. - Anticipates the surgeon’s need for instruments, sutures, and equipment. - Maintains an organized operative field at all times by keeping the instruments clean and in their proper place. - Keeps an accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument count. - Prepares for cases by assembling supplies and equipment in accordance with preference cards and identifies conflicts or problems. - Cares appropriately for instruments and supplies after each case. - Provides a safe surgical environment for the patient, identifying potential hazards to the surgeon, RN and assisting RN circulator in preoperative checks of equipment. - Displays knowledge of potential hazards (equipment, chemical, or gases) within the Operating Room. - Utilizes experienced OR staff as a resource, and acts as a resource for new OR personnel. - Assists in suturing, retracting, suctioning under direction of the surgeon. - Handles and identifies specimens per policy. - Expedites the effective and efficient turn-over of the OR between cases. - Will perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements - Delivery Room Technician experience required. - Attention to Detail. - Collaboration skills. - Communication (verbal & written) skills. - Planning (Organizing, Time Management) skills. - Quality focus. - Reliability. - Safety and Risk Management skills. - Previous Operating Room experience preferred. - High School diploma or GED required. Schedule Information - Contract length is 13 weeks.
