Description: This is a position in an acute inpatient psychiatry
unit. The unit has a 25-bed capacity and cares for patients
presenting with acute psychosis, depression, bipolar disorder,
schizophrenia, suicidal ideation, homicidal behavior, and dual
diagnosis. Staffing includes a minimum of five personnel for up to
25 patients, with varying ratios based on patient census. The
responsibilities of the RN include working as a charge nurse,
managing admissions, administering medications, and providing
comprehensive patient care. Training is provided for various roles
within the unit. Staff members are expected to take patient
assignments and participate in therapeutic groups and rounding
activities. Restraints are only used as a last resort after
de-escalation techniques have been attempted. Security staff are
available for support during crises. Uniforms consist of navy blue
scrubs. Nursing and clinical staff are equipped to handle patient
care and emergencies appropriately.
