Location: Utica, NY Category: Professional Posted On: Wed Apr 13 2022 Job Description: The Assistant Athletic Director for Athletics Events & Facilities will support the mission of SUNY Poly through leading and managing the operations for all of SUNY Poly's NCAA athletic programs and functions related to facilities, event and contest management, equipment and inventory maintenance, remaining informed of NCAA playing rules updates, and managing rentals and athletics camps & clinics. This position will report to the Director of Athletics. The SUNY Poly athletics program is an NCAA III member of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Responsibilities will include:Serve as a primary contact for all athletics event management and athletics facilities' needs;Oversee event management and contest operations for all of SUNY Poly's NCAA varsity athletics programs;Remain apprised of and lead efforts related to facilities and equipment maintenance and NCAA playing rules updates;Hire and train event management staff to include supervising student employees at events and managing employee paperwork;Serve as a primary contact for game/match officials and their payment processes;Implement and enforce NCAA, Conference, SUNY, and University facilities rules, policies, and procedures;Develop and communicate game/match day operations manuals to all relevant constituents;Create and distribute game/match day materials to visiting teams and officials;Communicate regularly with administrators, athletic training staff, support staff, head coaches, student-athletes;Serve on appropriate and applicable campus committees;Collaborate with campus partners, i.e., Facilities, Custodial, University Police, Residence Life, Campus Activities, Admissions, etc for athletics facilities and event management needs;Ensure that athletics facilities adhere to all required building and safety codes and assist with enforcement and development of emergency action plans;Forecast and plan for future athletics facilities and event management needs, including annual maintenance projects;Oversee SUNY Poly's athletics camp and clinic operations;Manage processes for athletics facilities rental requests to include, but not limited to, rental fees, revocable permits, certificate of insurance, child protection policies, etc;Serve as the primary contact for athletics facilities scheduling to include maintaining schedules and communicating updates and access to relevant groups;Inventory and order athletics supplies and equipment, as needed;Assist with annual athletics-sponsored events, i.e., Golf Tournaments, Athletics Awards Celebrations, Hall of Fame Induction, Wildcat Weekend, etc.Work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse student-athlete, student, faculty, staff, and community population;Play an integral part in the on-campus recruitment of student-athletes;Assist with Student-Athlete Advisory Committee events and projects, where needed;Assist with recreational programming, where interest exists;Complete performance management feedback and goals per requirements;Other reasonable duties, as assigned.The primary location for this position is in Utica, with possible travel to other operating locations. Job Requirements:Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree is required from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.Minimum of 3 years' experience working in athletics events at the collegiate or professional level.Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications, or ability to obtain upon hire.Ability to lift, carry, etc. up to 50 pounds.Experience managing student employees.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.Excellent teaching, verbal, written, and computer communication skills.Familiarity with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulationsAbility to work a flexible schedule that could include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays in order to complete assigned tasks.Ability to provide leadership, oversight, and direction to staff members to ensure that goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies.Proven experience in the design and implementation of operating strategies, plans and procedures.Applicants must address in their applications their abilities to work with a culturally diverse population.
