The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and working with undergraduate students and to develop an externally funded research program. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for a Wolfspeed Endowed Chair position, which can be found on the Academic section of our Employment Opportunities .Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience at the collegiate level, several years of industrial experience, and/or a strong research background. The successful candidates' experience and interests are expected to complement those ofexisting faculty and be able to support the breadth of disciplines within Mechanical Engineering Technology or Engineering at SUNY Poly.Specific duties include: 1) Teach and develop curricula for a variety of undergraduate mechanical engineering technology courses in both lecture and laboratory settings. The candidate would be responsible for all aspects of courses along with laboratory set-up, grading, and assessment. 2) Develop an externally funded scholarly research program incorporating undergraduate students. Funded programs that include academic, industry or government lab collaborations are encouraged. 3) Advise undergraduate students and assist with a variety of student club activities. 4) Work with the engineering technology faculty to maintain ETAC-ABET accreditation. 5) Serve the College and community through outreach activities.During the first two years of the appointment, a reduced teaching load to include two classes per semester can be anticipated, providing an opportunity to establish a research program and develop courses.Otherresponsibilities include contributing to the assessment and continued development ofMechanical Engineering Technologycourses, and contributing to the University community through committee service and other activities.Other reasonable duties as assigned Job Requirements:Minimum Requirements:Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related area is required. Both degrees should be from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization. The MET program will consider all areas pertinent to the mechanical engineering/engineering technology discipline and the successful candidate must have a track record of outstanding academic and scholarly achievements.Only complete applications will be considered.
