Job Description: Description of Duties:SUNY Polytechnic Institute's
College ofArts and SciencesDepartment ofBiology and
Chemistryinvites applications for a full-timetenure-trackAssistant,
Associate or Full ProfessorofBiology.The successful applicant
willengage in scholarly research involving undergraduate students
and support our Biology degree program.We are eager to hear from
candidates withdemonstrated commitments both teaching and research,
and a commitment to?cultivating diversity inthe university and
professional work environment.We invite applications from
vertebrate or invertebrate biologists working at a cellular or
higher level of organization. Area of specialization is open, but
preference will be given to candidates who can teach in the areas
of immunology, disease/vector biology, or comparative
biology.?Research capabilities and equipment currently available on
our Utica campus include a biosafety level II lab equipped for
mammalian and microbial cell culture, PCR and qRT-PCR; Chemidoc and
digital stereoscopic microscope systems, fluorescent inverted
microscope, UV spectrophotometry, NMR, minion DNA sequencer, and
other standard equipment. Also available are collaborative
opportunities and access to research facilities at the SUNY
Polytechnic Institute Albany campus, which hosts the College of
Nanoscale Science and Engineering and its MS and PhD programs in
Nanobioscience.Specific duties, in addition to maintaining an
active research program involving undergraduate students, will
include teaching three biology courses and/or labs per semester (3
or 4 credits each).During the first two years of the appointment, a
reducedteaching load to include two classes per semester can be
anticipated, providing an opportunity to establish a research
program and develop courses. Faculty also may use funds from
externally-sponsored research programs to reduce their teaching
loads.Otherresponsibilities include contributing to the assessment
and continued development ofBiologycourses, and contributing to the
University community through committee service and other
activities.Other reasonable duties as assigned. Job
Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D.(ABD Considered) in
Biology from a college or university accredited by the US
Department of Education or internationally recognized

interests in academic administration, including potential
appointment as department chair, should include a statement
detailing their interest and experiences in academic leadership and
