2022 Job Description: The Department of Health Information
Management in the College of Health Sciences seeks an energetic
Assistant, Associate or Full professor.The successful applicant
will have a deep understanding of both information technology and
the healthcare environment to support our online B.S. (CAHIM
accredited) Health Information Management program and M.S. program
in Health Informatics. Applicants who demonstrate the potential to
establish an externally funded research program in the field of
health information/informatics are especially encouraged to apply.
In addition to teaching, research, and service responsibilities,
SUNY Poly faculty members have the opportunity to engage in
curriculum development, industry collaboration, and community
outreach. Preference will be given to candidates who have
experience teaching HIM and online courses.Specific duties include
teaching four courses per semester (3 credits each). During the
first two years of the appointment, a reduced teaching load to
include three classes per semester can be anticipated, providing an
opportunity to establish a research program and develop courses.
Faculty also may use funds from externally-sponsored research
programs to reduce their teaching loads. Other responsibilities
include contributing to the assessment and continued development of
HIM courses and contributing to the University community through
committee service and other activities. Other reasonable duties as
assigned. Job Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D. (ABD
Considered) focused on data or information science, information
technology, health information management, health, medical or
nursing informatics from a college or university accredited by the
US Department of Education or internationally recognized
organization.RHIA credential required.Prior teaching experience or
professional level and background in health informatics, health
information management or health information technology is
desired.Online teaching experience and familiarity with an online
LMS system such as Blackboard, D2L, Canvas, or Sakai is highly
desired.Applicants must address in their applications their
