Job Description:
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work – Typically 5:30 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. with flexibility depending on the needs of the Agency.
On-call is required for this position on a rotating basis.
Qualifications - High School Diploma; Knowledge of DMV and DOT
regulations pertaining to vehicle maintenance requirements; Minimum
2 years of experience in garage scheduling; Knowledge of general
mechanical repairs to vehicles and possess ability to perform
repairs. Must have or ability to obtain a New York State CDL
License within placement into position. NY State Inspection License
or the ability to obtain one. The ability to use technology and
computer programs is required. Work Authorization/Security
Clearance – Authorized to work in the United States.
Summary/Objective - Responsible for the maintenance program for all
agency vehicles to ensure safety standards are met. Includes
successful passing of vehicles through New York State Inspections.
Responsible to respond to emergencies and ensure procedures are
followed. Management of all computer programs required for the
department. Essential Functions – Reasonable accommodations may be
made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the
essential functions. Schedule maintenance of all agency vehicles on
a daily basis. Establish maintenance schedule for all Agency
vehicles to ensure preventative maintenance program. Schedule
vehicles for outside repairs and ensure all repairs are completed.
Assist with mechanical repairs as needed. Maintain computer systems
for purchases, repairs, inventory, process billing, etc. Advise
Supervisor of general status and condition of all agency vehicles.
Maintain a parts inventory to ensure parts are available for proper
maintenance of vehicles. Establish and maintain a positive
relationship with vendors when purchasing needed parts. Ensure
proper maintenance of garage area, i.e., supervise clean-up and
advise supervisor of needed repairs. Responsible to ensure only
authorized use of garage and equipment. Coordinate with the
Transportation Dept.: assignment of vehicles for field trips;
vehicle replacement due to repairs; all other issues regarding
vehicles Assist with data collection on fleet repairs for agency
and county contracts. Supply supervisor with information on all
vehicles monthly. Perform a daily safety inspection of your site(s)
is conducted to minimize and address any possible safety hazards,
and to ensure all equipment is being utilized safely and properly.

There is limited travel associated with this position within
Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties. Work Environment – This
position regularly works within a garage environment using
associated tools. Physical Demands - The physical demands described

successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to
stand; walk; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach
with hands and arms. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling
