Chris Preble from Robert Half is working with a Utica, NY client of his to find their next Director of Accounting. This organization has grown a lot over the years and has excellent benefits and a very low turnover environment.Reporting into the ownership team, the Director of Accounting is responsible for the financial operations of the business and is accountable for the planning, implementation and control of all financial-related activities and the development of future financial and operational strategies. This role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a company entering a new era of growth and operation, in an industry that is rapidly transforming.Duties can includeDevelops organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities, projecting acquisition and expansion prospects and analyzing organization operations.Identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and accumulating capital to fund expansion.Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.Reports financial status by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances, and developing improvements.Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization regarding short-term and long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.Manage the financial function, establish controls, processes, reporting, and workflows.Identifying opportunities for automating processes and increasing efficiency on a frequent basis.Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the organization's plan for growth and expansion.Review all month-end closing activities, including general ledger accounts, balance sheet and statement of activities, financial accounts reconciliations, and cost allocation.Responsible for the treasury management processes, including cash flow planning, daily cash management, accounts payable and receivable operations, and bank authorizations and processes.The Director of Accounting must have excellent communication skillsCPA or MBA is preferredProgressive accounting experienceRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
